The Yahoo hack tale continues, this point with a lot of data provided by the corporate itself, UN agency reckoned during a statement that a lot of users were really hacked in 2013 than revealed previously.
Yahoo said in Sept 2016 that five hundred million accounts got hacked in 2013 as a part of what it delineated as a state-sponsored attack, albeit has not specifics any hacking group or the country behind the hacking .
Yahoo had released the statement in December to bump the figure to one billion, stated that it discovered proof that double as many accounts were hacked than it thought initially.
3 billion accounts were compromised
And currently it returns with another statement, revealing that its original investigation really pointed to a wrong range. therefore the hack didn’t have an effect on five hundred million or one billion accounts, but 3 billion records, that shows the whole userbase of Yahoo at that point. this implies that every Yahoo users in 2013 were exposed following the breach.
“Based on the information by the outside forensic experts, Yahoo has determined that everyone accounts that existed at the time of the August 2013 theft were possible affected,” Yahoo stated in its latest statement.
“According to Yahoo’s announcement in December 2016 , yahoo took action to safeguard all the accounts of the August 2013 account breach, and also company stated that those who still has not changed their password please to do so” .
The only best thing happen with this breach that it didn’t expose sensitive information like bank accounts, credit card information or passwords which hackers can use to compromise accounts
If still there are any yahoo users out there who haven’t change their password till now we are advice to change it as soon as possible as its too late to advice as breach happen in year 2013. Better is to change if still not done .
